ESL Instructor Training

This online training course was designed to help English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers learn about the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) tests and how to integrate them into their classes.
The training course was developed based on an in-person CASAS training that I had received from a subject matter expert. It seemed that the in-person training was not always convenient for all teachers to attend, as some teachers taught classes outside of regular working hours due to the nature of the adult ESL program. As a result, I wanted to show that the training could also be offered online, in order to make it more accessible to all teachers.
To create the online training course, I used Articulate Storyline 360, a software tool for building interactive e-learning courses. They also used the Google Cloud Text-to-Speech API to provide more natural narration for the course. The course includes a number of presentations and quizzes, which are intended to guide teachers through the process of understanding how ESL students are placed, how to administer the CASAS tests, and how to use the test resources in their classes. The use of interactive elements and natural narration can help to make the course more engaging and effective for learners.
